Why we love this piece

Oso’s work draws from the swirling noise of the internet, which he collages and manipulates, ultimately reflecting culture back to us like a mirror. Here, he brings together hashtags, text messages, news clippings and photos pulled from online, which he then paints over. 

Oso Parado
Born: Chiconcuac, Mexico|Lives: 

Tulum, Mexico 

Oso Parado was born in Chiconcuac, a small farming town in Mexico. He grew up in a vibrant intellectual and artistic household and on weekends his home was visited by prominent figures like writer Gabriel García Márquez and photographer Manuel Alvarez Bravo. Oso eventually moved to New York, where he studied at the School of Visual Arts and Parsons and worked briefly as a fashion photographer. His work has been published in Harper’s Bazaar, Elle and GQ. Today, Oso lives in Tulum, Mexico and his paintings have been included in group shows in Mexico City, Tulum, Barcelona and Miami.
