This piece was inspired by classic American landscape photography like the work of Ansel Adams. Oso reimagines the genre by creating a monochromatic, neon green mountain that appears more pop art than serene landscape.
Oso Parado was born in Chiconcuac, a small farming town in Mexico. He grew up in a vibrant intellectual and artistic household and on weekends his home was visited by prominent figures like writer Gabriel García Márquez and photographer Manuel Alvarez Bravo. Oso eventually moved to New York, where he studied at the School of Visual Arts and Parsons and worked briefly as a fashion photographer. His work has been published in Harper’s Bazaar, Elle and GQ. Today, Oso lives in Tulum, Mexico and his paintings have been included in group shows in Mexico City, Tulum, Barcelona and Miami.
