New York-based illustrator Angelica Hicks is taking Instagram by storm with her witty, tongue-in-cheek designs. Whether she’s poking fun at celebrity culture, politics, or social constructs, there’s a “punny” intellectualism at the root of each illustration – and her 50k+ instagram followers seem love it.

You may recognize her playful illustrations from her daily drawings on Instagram or from her collaborations with powerhouses such as Gucci, Missoni and Net-a-Porter.

She also just recently worked with art company, Twyla, who collaborated with i am Other on creating prints of her work. The collaboration is especially exciting for her due to the scale of all the prints. Her work is usually seen on Instagram, and the originals are on small pieces of paper meant for watercolor.

There is no wrong way to collect art as long as you’re happy with the pieces you’re choosing and aren’t afraid to experiment. At Twyla, for example, the art is exclusive to the website, so it’s a sure way to get your hands on a one-of-a-kind piece.

The geometric artworks by Edward Granger are fun to look at, and a great way to add some colour and dizzying effects to a space!
  • 06.12.2017
I love the subtle blush pink of the West Elm swivel chairs and the bolder pink of the Twyla art on the mantel. It was all about layering in the right amount, although I have a feeling that she wants to add more pink!

Twyla’s booth was my most memorable feature of the Sight Unseen OFFSITE show because it quite literally added another dimension to art viewing.

Check out work that starts at $360, along with the "Art Connects Us" campaign that launched today, pairing six Twyla artists with six luminaries to highlight how art bonds even the most unlikely duos.

It’s one thing to know what the trends are—and maybe have a vague sense of what they look like—but it’s another to be able to experience them in such an immediately immersive way.

The 50″ x 40″ size was perfect for our large open space by the staircase and the bright colors were both eye catching and cheerful. I also liked that the limited edition prints Badessi created exclusively for Twyla were a bit of a departure from his other work which is usually more figurative.

Designed by New York artist and designer Tom Hancocks, the fantastical virtual spaces are pegged to seven interior trends — including color blocking, ’70s chic and ’80s Japan — each showcasing the work of a Twyla artist.

The idea is that one should find pieces of art that they truly love and build an interior design concept around those rather than designing a room and adding art only as an afterthought, as so many of us do.

  • 03.21.2017
This year, Twyla’s collaboration with Granger seeks to make the room itself a work of art. You can clearly see the 3D influence in the installation, which balances minimalism from the modern geometric design with maximalism incorporated through the vibrantly layered hues.
