Marcus Eek

Marcus Eek’s work gained critical attention in the 1990s, during a resurgence in contemporary Scandinavian painting. His unique style combines elements of abstract expressionism— defined by confident, thick, sweeping brushstrokes— and organic representation, such as renderings of flowers, water studies and other recognizable forms derived from nature. Part of a rising generation of important Scandinavian artists, Eek’s work has been exhibited widely in prestigious museums and public collections across Europe, as well as embassies, “Kunsthallen,” and art fairs such as Art Brussels.
