Kristen Schiele moved frequently within the Midwest during her childhood. Currently living in industrial Brooklyn, her large scale paintings reference the changing suburbs, housing developments, basketball courts, Atari sets, and sunsets of her youth. An avid collector of collage materials, Kristen incorporates movie stills, vintage magazines, library print outs and her own photographs into her works. The bright colors and patterns of her paintings create energy, space and psychological impact, while the figures are staged like actors in a play. As well as working in her studio full time, Schiele is in partnership with her husband at Kayrock Screenprinting in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
Kristen is in the permanent collections at MoMA and The Whitney Museum in New York City.
