DALEK ( James Marshall )

James Marshall, who goes by the pseudonym Dalek, grew up in a military family and moved frequently. He turned to graffiti, punk rock, and the skateboarding scene to help mold his identity in the 80s while finishing up high school in Japan and later merged graffiti with anime for a new take on street art. In addition to being shown in galleries and museums all over the world, Dalek has collaborated with brands like Nike and Scion. He now lives in Raleigh, North Carolina with his family where he is very involved with the local arts community.

Pushead record covers gave me inspiration because, unlike stuff in museums, it was punk and skateboarding, and later, graffiti, that put art in an accessible place.

Dalek worked in the past as the Resident Brand Artist for the surf apparel company Hurley.
