Why we love this piece

This work is comes from Minku’s Straight Edge Painting series, where he made over 100 paintings using only oil paint, pencil, sharpie, and a ruler. While the original works were all 7 x 5 inches, the artist has expanded the size of the work so we can take in the detail and evidence of his hand. The work’s title, referencing the Bay Area, leads us to read the bold red line in the center as an abstraction of the Golden Gate Bridge.
