Martin’s work often looks to nature to explore the passage of time. This serene and almost other-worldly image depicts the reflection of the moon on the ocean and was taken from Martin’s apartment in Rio de Janeiro.

Martin Ogolter is a Rio de Janeiro-based artist whose photographs investigate the nuances of nature, the power of the serial image and the medium’s potential to capture the “truth.” Martin was born in Austria and studied graphic design and photography at New York’s School of Visual Arts. In his early career, he created book and album covers for major companies like Knopf Books, Penguin Books, Atlantic Records, Nonesuch Records and many more. Based in Brazil since 2003, Martin has shown his work in Sao Paulo, Curitiba, Berlin, Hamburg and Austria. He is a professor of photography at the Escola de Artes Visuais (EAV) do Parque Lage in Rio de Janeiro.
