Why we love this piece

Jeff created the original painting this work is based on by pouring, smearing and dripping paint. While harkening back to iconic action paintings by Jackson Pollock and modern masters, Jeff's work is also feels extremely of-the-moment, especially the green-blue hue that dominates the work.

Jeff Muhs

Born in Southampton, New York to artistic parents, Jeff Muhs spent his childhood learning about his natural environment from his father, who was a hunting and fishing guide. His time spent along the barrier beach of Long Island’s south shore is a major current running throughout Jeff’s work. His foray into art began with wood sculpting, and he later refined his skills at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. After spending the early years of his career in New York City working as an illustrator and studio sculptor, Jeff returned to Southampton to focus on his artistic development.
