At first glance, this image might look digitally enhanced with its smattering of pixel-like circles. In fact, it depicts crop circles from space. Other than color manipulation, the location is depicted as is. As Federico says: “I don’t distort the place...This strange pattern is an actual place. I do a lot of experimentation with framing. I mutate all the levels of the image, but not the actual image.”
Argentine photographer Federico Winer has spent over two years creating Ultradistancia, a fascinating series based on Google Earth imagery, which depicts our world in a ultramodern way. While Federico also makes more classical photography, this most recent series shows Federico’s interest in blurring the lines between fine art and traditional photography. His work has been exhibited internationally from Italy and Germany to Thailand and Israel. Additionally, he’s been written up in prominent publications such as The Huffington Post, Gizmodo, Forbes, Vice, and The Atlantic.
